Pleased to meet you. We are Amit and Ariella Ronat, your hosts at Yama - Suites and Wine Spa, and though we have not yet met, there are some things we wish to tell you. 😊
We launched our project in 2009, initially as the first wine spa in Israel (read the full story here…) and from the start it was the ultimate family business. The complex was designed by Ariella’s parents, Eunice and Peter, renowned Jerusalem architects; the full range of treatment options was chosen and implemented by Amit, a qualified physiotherapist; while the management details, large and small, and the ceramic vessels are Ariella’s responsibility.
What we wished to create for our guests is the experience that we personally seek out when on vacation... relaxation, indulgence, to cast off the tedium of day to day routine, and on the other hand, to immerse yourselves in the pure ambience of the place. That is the reason why we, as owners, have paid attention to the smallest details. We have personally checked how pleasant it is to pad barefoot on the deck, which herbs to pick from the garden to infuse our tea, the exact angle at which to hang the hammock to catch the cooling breeze and the panoramic heart-expanding view. Each detail, from the bedlinen to the strength of the Jacuzzi current, from the softness of the sofa to the cup of coffee, is an expression of our pleasure that you are our guests.
When you stay with us you are part of our extended family, and it is important that you enjoy your break. Attentive to your every request and query, we are happy to advise and direct you to restaurants, attractions, beaches, vineyards and all the other surprises our region offers.
Our enterprise, established in 2009 is exclusively a family business. The place is designed, managed and maintained by three family generations. Architects Eunice and Peter were the designers; we, your hosts, have built sections of the place with our own hands, and our twins contribute mainly with smiles and infectious laughter. We have created for you the perfect vacation experience of indulgence, relaxation, a break from the daily routine, spiced with the local experience of someone who lives facing the most beautiful view in Israel.
When you stay with us you are part of our extended family and as such, it is important that you enjoy your vacation. We are attentive to your every query and request.
Those afraid of long words can simply say wine healing as, in reality at Yama our approach is “what is good inside is also good outside”. 😊
One evening after a delicious family meal and a few glasses, Ariella’s parents, Eunice and Peter brought up an idea. To transform the area beneath their house on the Zichron Yaakaov cliff into…something… but into what exactly? In a moment of brilliance, under the influence of what was opposite me on the table, I thought, “Why not a wine spa?” And in the excitement of the moment I sat that same night and sketched out a complete plan which became the basis of our current treatments. The next day, still pondering the subject and investigating more deeply, I realized to my surprise I was not particularly original. The ancient Greeks, Romans, French and generally all the countries where wine was an integral part of their culture had already thought of this. Grapes, I discovered, from the oil extracted from the seeds to the antioxidants in the skins, contain a wealth of health. And before you could say ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’ we were on our way. Ultimately, a complex of treatment rooms brilliantly designed by architects Eunice and Peter was built on the grounds, with a lot of hard work by Ariella, myself and local tradesmen.
My honeymoon with Ariella had the additional pleasure of investigating various places where the concept of wine therapy was known and well established. Visiting wine spas in a number of European countries taught me a lot about the theory, and then upon our return the practical side began. Many trials (and errors…impossible to forget my first wine bath from which I emerged a flattering shade of purple) led to my first product; Merlot wine concentrate and essential oils for a wine bath and additional products which we use in the spa treatments.
Today, Yama Wine Spa offers a list of treatments utilizing the excellent characteristics of grapes and wine. Massages with organic grape seed oil, body scrubbing with crushed grape seeds and Dead Sea salts accompanied by an enriching body wrap and of course a wine bath are all offered to our guests in the spacious treatment rooms of the complex. The excellent treatment team and I are available to anyone wishing to enjoy the unique experience, and to snack on a light meal of cheese and wine on one of the balconies.
Yama Spa, established in 2009 was the first Israeli spa to use grapes and wine as a treatment and personal care option. Amit Ronat, the owner, researched and studied beauty and health treatments combining grapes and wine in European spas, and today is a consultant to similar places in Israel and abroad. We offer a selection of treatment options utilizing the excellent properties of the grapes and the wine. Massages with organic grape seed oil, body scrubbing with crushed grape seed and Dead Sea salts accompanied by an enriching body wrap, and, of course, a wine bath are all offered to our guests in the spacious treatment rooms in the complex. The excellent treatment team and owner Amit, are at the disposal of anyone wishing to enjoy the unique experience and to snack on a light meal of cheese and wine on one of the balconies.
As wine is the natural continuation of vine cultivation and the maturation of grapes, so too our suites were the natural extension of the wine spa.
Initially we hesitated. Although it turns out that we do indeed enjoy hosting people and know how to manage the spa, to make this venture such a significant part of our lives and to entrench our roots in Zichron Yaakov was no small step. It took a few months of thought, a few weeks of hesitation, and a few days of reflection, but in the end, when we also listened to our hearts and to our visitors who repeatedly asked, “when will it be possible to also sleep here?”, we decided to acknowledge and realize the dream.
The suites blueprinted by Eunice and Peter were likewise changed and redrawn till we arrived at a result which combined all the essence of our hospitality concept: the relaxed indulgent ambience in a mind-expanding environment. A view to delight the eye, a light sea breeze to caress the body, beds designed for sweet dreams, a balcony with a hammock for daydreaming and little luxuries which transform your stay into a sensual euphoria.
We are sure that each of our suites, and it doesn’t matter if you have come for one night to get away from the daily routine or for a significant event- will be remembered as a place to which you long to return again and again, and of course we will be there, happy to see you enjoying yourself in the place we have lovingly created.
Our suites, Eshkol, Kerem and Gefen are the perfect place for someone who wishes to be pampered and to bask in the laidback ease of the Carmel coast region. They are equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay and more. A view to delight the eye, a light sea breeze to caress the body, beds designed for sweet dreams, a balcony with a hammock for daydreaming, and little luxuries which change your stay into a sensual euphoria.
We are sure that after one night in the luxurious and pampering ambience we create, you will be happy to return to us again and again. The care we have invested in the place and our joy that you are our guests does not leave anyone indifferent.
